Lawn care during a heatwave

A healthy, established lawn can usually cope with a period of dry weather. Even the best lawns turn yellow - it's just the grass protecting itself by going dormant. The appearance is disappointing but rarely disastrous.

The treatments we apply are still helping to keep lawns healthy, and accelerate the recovery once we get some proper rainfall.

In the meantime:

• Avoid mowing if the lawn is very dry.

• If your lawn is still growing, or weeds are unsightly, then mow on a high setting (around 75mm).

• Water any newly seeded or recently repaired areas as these are most at risk from extremely dry conditions (first check for limitations if you have a hosepipe ban, or contact us for advice).

• Minimise foot traffic as far as possible.
